150+ Fox News Bias videos at www.youtube.com When "Fox and Friends" spun a story that Newsbusters had already spun from an article in Christianity Today on Google's exclusion of religious, political, and other possibly controversial groups from discounts under its Google Apps non-profit program, the Fox News anchors made 3 factual errors in under a minute to support a false claim that Google's non-profit restrictions exclusively target religion and churches, as I show in this video. 170+ Fox News Bias videos at bit.ly The birth control coverage regulation announced by Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius on January 20, slightly modified today, led to a lot of misinformation about the rule in the media, especially on Fox News where I found Fox News anchors misinforming viewers about the exemption for religious employers, about whether "abortion pills" were covered, and about the cost to employers of covering contraceptives, as I show in this video. Via The Raw Story: "Catholic League president Bill Donohue told Cenk Ugyur of The Young Turks on Thursday that he didn't want Daily Show host Jon Stewart to be fired, he just wanted an apology. "He has apologized for all kinds of things in the past," Donohue said. The Catholic League on Thursday launched a boycott against the sponsors of the Daily Show over a segment that featured "vagina mangers." In the segment, which aired on April 16, Stewart mocked Fox News for criticizing the phrase "war on women." He noted that the 24 hour news network had been promoting the phrase "war on Christmas" for years...".* www.rawstory.com Subscribe to The Young Turks: bit.ly Find out how to watch The Young Turks on Current by clicking here: www.current.com The Largest Online New Show in the World. SOURCES: "Saudi Girls' School defies clerics with basketball -- paper" -- Reuters story in Jordan Times, 25 April 2012 "IDF rejects religious soldiers' request to wear earplugs during ceremonies when women sing" -- Jerusalem Post, 24 April 2012 Please note: The word "women" is used when reading the Jordan Times story, which in fact refers to girls. This is because I was too lazy to transcribe from the newspaper article, but copied and pasted the text of the Reuters story into my script. At some point an editor must have changed the word 'girls' to 'women' and I didn't notice the change. Sorry for the confusion.

Chris brings us an argument from William T. Cavanaugh about whether religion causes violence. William T. Cavanaugh's introduction states: "Everyone knows that religion has a dangerous tendency to promote violence. This story is part of the conventional wisdom of Western societies, and it underlies many of our institutions and policies, from limits on the public role of religion to efforts to promote democracy in the Middle East." Watch The Religious Right is Anti Christian Video The Religious Right is Anti Christian
May 23, 2012
I would like to talk about something that I rarely talk about, and that is religion. The reason I feel the need to speak about it, is because it is so closely mixed in with today's politics. I was raised a Christian and I am still a Christian to this day. After nearly 40 years of the religious right getting so much attention, I feel that the rest of us Christians are by in large ignored. Have you ever given any thought to why they call themselves the religious right? Well, I have. They have removed themselves from mainstream Christianity, and politicalized their movement. I mean, why not call themselves Christians and leave it at that? Well, here is my theory. First ask yourself what makes a person a Christian? It's the teachings of Jesus Christ as it is written in the New Testament. But the Religious Right ignore the New Testament and follows the Old instead. They do not use the title of Christian because they're really a political movement, not a Christian one. Whenever they find something in the New Testament that doesn't conform well to their political standings they trump it with a verse from the Old Testament. Doing this creates an oxymoron and diminishes the teachings of Jesus Christ and the New Testament itself. Even though the New Testament and Jesus Christ is what supposed to make a Christian a Christian. In Sunday school Christians are taught that Jesus was sent because those who followed the Old Testament were falling short of the Glory of God. The religious ...

Voices of Faith: Aren't some Bible stories fictional?
The Rev. Betty Hanna-Witherspoon, pastor of Ebenezer A.M.E. Church, Kansas City, Mo.: African Methodists believe all Scripture (including both testaments) is inspired by God and useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction and for training in righteousness. (2 Timothy 3:16) Scriptures tell the story of the divine relationship between God and humanity that comes to fulfillment in Jesus the Christ. In practice, this means that we teach all Scripture is inspired by God in order to grow a relationship between God and believers. African Methodists are asked to study the Bible as God's word and in all things to strive to make God's word the rule of their lives. We do not believe that the categories fiction and nonfiction apply to the stories ...
